There are currently 3,311 billionaires worldwide, representing almost $11.8 trillion in collective wealth.
In 2021, the global billionaire population grew by 3%, and billionaire wealth increased by 18%.
North America is home to most billionaires, worth $4.6 trillion. There are 975 billionaires in the USA alone.
Europe’s billionaire wealth is growing the fastest, up by 21% year-over-year in 2021.
Asia holds almost a quarter of all billionaire wealth worldwide – compared to Europe’s 26.5%.
What will happen to Africa’s billionaire wealth in coming years? It currently has just 46 billionaires, but billionaire wealth has increased by 17% year-on-year. However, many billionaires living in other parts of the world hail from African countries originally.
