World Bank Review of 2018 in Charts

The World Bank has produced an interesting review  of 2018 that summarises the major future challenges faced by our planet in 14 charts.

Each chart is accompanied by some useful extra data and information, and they cover:

  • Extreme poverty at its lowest ever level
  • Extreme poverty in sub Saharan Africa
  • Record number of displace people
  • Keeping global warming to 1.5 degrees
  • Environmental quality
  • Open dumping and burning of waste
  • child malnutrition
  • Education in developing countries
  • Rising demand for advanced skills
  • Employment barriers for women
  • Borrowing surge in low and middle income countries
  • Urban growth
  • Increased access to financial services
  • Increased electricity access
