3D Maps As Works Of Art

‘Overview Maps’ is an innovative company that produces unique multilayered cartographic art pieces based on locations around the world, both natural and man-made.

Earlier this year, the company was awarded the prestigious overall award from the British Cartographic Society, as well as the award for 3D mapping from Garsdale Design.

Software tools take mapping data and split it into different layers such as water, land, roads and topographic elevations. These designs are then cut with a laser cutter and assembled to make a finished 3D map. Customised maps can be made to order -perhaps of your area, a particular geographical landmark, or even the route of a favourite walk or marathon race route.
