Combining Photos and Maps with ‘Dual Map’

The screenshot of the map and photo combo shown here was created using a really simple but highly effective tool called Dual Maps:  and centres on Exeter Cathedral.

This tool is free to use, and combines Google Maps, Google Street View and Microsoft Bing Maps in one embeddable control.

Dual maps are implemented using a few lines of code added to an HTML web page. This code adds an Iframe containing a block of code to the page. It is a really simple process – trust me! I was unable to embed the code directly into this blog as WordPress does not support Iframes, but it worked perfectly when I placed it within a document on the school VLE. When fully embedded, the the viewer has control to change the view on the maps, and watch them adjust accordingly. Fuuuunky!
